Keith Clinkscales named CEO and partner for Sean Combs' Revolt TV channel

(July 30, 2013) Sean Combs, Founder and Chairman of Revolt TV, announced today the executive team in place to lead the upcoming multi-network cable channel. Keith Clinkscales will serve as CEO, Andy Schuon will serve as President, and Val Boreland will serve as Executive Vice President of Programming and Strategy.

Revolt TV is a multimedia, real-time socially connected television channel for a new generation of artists and innovators, set to launch in Fall 2013.  Envisioned as a maverick television channel with an emphasis on music, its programming will focus on music videos, live performances, music news, live interviews, a robust social media component, as well as an offering of talk shows and original series with a mission to equally reflect and impact popular and music culture.

Revolt TV has national carriage deals with both Comcast and Time Warner Cable (TWC), making it one of the largest launches of a channel in television history.

As CEO of Revolt Media and a partner in the nascent company with founder Sean Combs, Keith Clinkscales leverages a quarter-century of award-winning, multimedia experience in seeking to engage the Millennial audience and revitalize the music television medium.

Most recently, Clinkscales founded The Shadow League (, a digital sports platform, in partnership with ESPN, with a unique and engaging perspective on the intersection of sports, pop culture and race. He previously spent seven years a senior vice president at ESPN, where he produced and developed some of the sports and entertainment media empire's most popular and respected programming, earning an Emmy nomination and two Peabody Awards as co-creator and executive producer of ESPN's acclaimed 30 for 30 documentary series.

Among other successes, he launched ESPN Films and executive produced over 40 films and documentaries, produced diverse television projects such as "The X Games," "The ESPY Awards" and "SportsNation," and led its publishing venture ESPN The Magazine.

From 2000-03 Clinkscales served as founder, chairman and CEO of Vanguarde Media, publishing HONEY, Heart & Soul and Savoy magazines, which, under his leadership, grew to 1.2 million in paid circulation and a total reach of over five million.  He segued there after being tapped by Quincy Jones to launch and serve as president/CEO of VIBE, growing the magazine for six years into a definitive, industry-standard urban lifestyle publication reaching 700,000+ readers.  He began his career in 1988 as co-founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of Urban Profile magazine.

Clinkscales earned an MBA from Harvard following his magna cum laude graduation from Florida A&M University.  Over his career he has garnered numerous awards and honors, including being named one of "30 Leaders for the Future" by Black Enterprise Magazine and one of the "Top 50 Most Influential Minorities in Cable" by CableWorld Magazine.  A recipient of two National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Excellence in Journalism Awards, he was also recently presented with a Professional Achievement Award from Harvard Business School's African American Alumni Association.

"Keith, Andy and Val are the perfect combination to run Revolt they are my executive dream team," said Sean Combs. "This launch could not be done without their talents, experience and drive to create the best new network the industry will have seen in a long time."
