Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of July 16 - 22
VH1 captures No.1 cable show and network titles in a week of mixed viewing
(July 25, 2012) Cable television's Top 25 shows continue to draw more Black audience than network TV, and those viewers are, as usual, using the summer weeks to sample prime time offerings. Since cable has a greater variety of programs to sample, their tastes are as varied as "Sunday Best" and "American Dad."
VH1 (which had the No.1 spot again with "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta) lead the way among most watched networks with 5.5 million tuning in three of its shows. Second place went to TBS with 5.3 million watching 4 episodes of Tyler Perry comedies. BET took third with five million across five shows.
The total number of Black viewers watching the Top 25 cable shows for the third week of July, according to Nielsen, was down nine percent to 28 million.
