The Week
of July 10 – 16
BET tops cable
chart again, thanks to 'Beauty & the Beast' reality combo
(July
20, 2006) For the third consecutive week BET sits atop the 25 most popular
cable shows with black households, according to Nielsen Media Research.
The network’s two new entries in the reality category helped sustain the
momentum it received with its record-breaking audiences for the BET
Awards.
“Keisha Cole: The Way It Is” and “DMX: Soul of a Man,” together being
marketed as the Beauty and the Beast” on Wednesday nights, took the number
one and three spots on the chart for the second week of July. Cole’s was
the only show to pull in at least a million black households for the week.
Overall BET led the network race by scoring 11 positions on chart.
USA claimed four winners on the week, followed by MTV and TNT with three
each. The total number of black households watching the top 25 was 15.1
million, an increase of just under a million from the previous week’s
total of 14.2 million.
