The Week of July 9 – 15
‘Payne’ returns to cable’s top spot; Disney is the week’s No.1 network

(July 18, 2007) After a two week hiatus “House of Payne” returns as the week’s most popular cable show in black households. In fact, Tyler Perry’s hit show captured the top two spots for the second week in July and the episodes were the only cable favorites to attracted at least a million households. BET’s new reality series “Baldwin Hills” jumped to the sixth and seventh positions.

With school out and kids controlling the remote, Disney was the week’s top network with 12 entries. BET followed with four shows and USA posted three.

The total number of black households watching the top 25 cable shows, according to Nielsen Media Research, was 16.2 million. That’s a 9.5 percent decrease over the pervious week.
