Valerie Gammon, veteran TV and entertainment executive, to head Miramar complex

(July 15, 2014)  The City of Miramar in Broward County, Florida has announced that veteran television and entertainment executive, Valerie Norman Gammon, has been appointed Director of Cultural Affairs.

In October 2014, the City will break ground on its new Entertainment Complex to be located at Miramar Regional Park.  The Complex will feature a 5,000-seat Amphitheater, Grande Promenade and Corporate Pavilion. The Park, situated on 172 acres, has long been a major destination in Broward County.  With the addition of the Entertainment Complex, the goal is to make the City of Miramar a global destination location.

"Valerie comes to us with an extensive background in business development and media management along with a wealth of arts and entertainment experience.  As an award-winning executive, we look forward to having her cultivating Miramar's brand and develop new partnerships locally, nationally and globally," says Chief of Marketing and Public Relations, Natasha Hampton.
Gammon comes to Miramar having worked in senior capacities with top media corporations including Essence Communications, Inc., Time Warner, CBS TV, HBO, BET and FOX TV.  Her responsibilities in Miramar also include overseeing the existing 800-seat Miramar Cultural Center, the Shirley Branca Memorial Park band shell in Historic Miramar, corporate branding, marketing and sales, production and global business development.

"I am sincerely honored to be a Director in this prestigious position helping to lead the City's enhanced commitment to arts, culture and entertainment," says Gammon.  "Few cities, worldwide, have a phenomenal Cultural Arts facility, as well as an entertainment complex like the one soon-to-be built at Miramar Regional Park. Together they will place the City of Miramar in a class by itself and garner local, national and international attention."
