The
Week of July 3 – 9
BET Awards'
afterglow gives it number one cable favorite spot for second week
(July
12, 2006) The BET Awards' second encore pulled in another 1.2 million
admirers to capture first place again on the top 25 most popular cable
programs for the first week in July. Despite the fact that it had aired
twice in the previous week and attracted a combined audience of 7.8
million black viewers, word-of-mouth kept the viewers coming back for
more.
But it’s summertime, and with young viewers in control of the remote, the
Disney channel was the overall winning network. Ten of the 25 most watched
cable shows came from the Disney roster. MTV's Thursday night block of
"Run's House," "Pimp My Ride" and "Making The Band 3" took second, third
and fourth place. The overall total of households watching the top 25 was
14.2 million, a 16 percent drop from the 17 million of the previous week.
