Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of June 20 - 26 BET
Awards set an audience record with 7 million black viewers (June
30, 2011) The 2011 BET Awards attracted a total audience of 7.7 million,
with 90 percent of them being black households. That's an eight percent
gain over last year's audience for the prime time special, making it one
of the top three programs on all of cable.
While the Awards pushed BET to new heights, the most watched cable
network for the week was the Disney Channel. Thanks to young viewers
home for the summer, Disney had 11.3 million viewers for 10 of its Top
25 shows. BET claimed 10 million for four of its programs. TBS took
third with 4.7 million for four shows on the chart.
According to Nielsen, the total number of viewers for the Top 25's most
popular shows in black homes was 34.9 million. That's an increase of 34
percent over the previous week, thanks almost exclusively to the BET
Awards.
