TV Ratings for Week of June 20 - 26 TV
viewing for Top 25 shows in black households way behind cable's audience
(June 29, 2011) Black TV viewers are shifting their attention to summer
activities and new cable offerings. Thank goodness for the final rounds
on the talent competition shows. NBC's "The Voice" took No.1 on the Top
25 and was one of only eight shows that attracted a million or more
black viewers.
Thanks to The Voice, NBC passed CBS and took the No.1 spot on the Top
25, with eight of its top shows attracting 8.4 million. CBS was second
with eight million for 10 shows. ABC was a distant third with 3.5
million tuning in four programs on the chart.
Nielsen said that the total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows in
black households inched up 5.2 percent over the previous week to 23.2
million. That's 33 percent behind cable TV's audience for the same week
