TV One wins three
gold awards in its first foray into the Promax Awards competition
(June
28, 2006) In the two-year-old network’s first year to enter the
prestigious PROMAX Awards competition, TV One took home three Gold Awards
this week during the association of entertainment marketers, promoters and
designers’ recent annual conference in New York
TV One took home Gold Awards in cable network categories for Interstitial/Promotainment
– Movies (The Cool Factor – “Defiant Ones”); On-Air Sales Promotion (The
Cool Factor – “She’s Gotta Have It”); and for its Use of Original Music
Composition for a Promo (TV One Image Campaign).
“I am honored that, as such a young network, we were even considered, much
less honored with Gold Awards,” said TV One Executive Vice President for
Marketing and Creative Services Susan Banks. “It’s a real tribute to our
small, but incredibly hard-working team of professionals at TV One, and
the management of the network that allow us to be creative in our mission
to reach out to the underserved adult African American audience.”
The PROMAX Awards are presented to companies and individuals whose work is
judged by a panel of promotion and marketing professionals to be of
exceptional quality as well as accomplished specific marketing objectives.
In all, awards were given in more than 170 categories to local television,
networks, cable, interactive media, radio, program syndication and
international. A complete list of the Award winners is available online
at: www.promax.tv/awards.
PROMAX is the international association of promotion and marketing
professionals in the electronic media, dedicated to advancing the role and
increasing the effectiveness of promotion and marketing industry, related
industries and the academic community. BDA is the sister organization of

'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life
As the American economy continues to move sluggishly,
African-American households are curtailing their spending in many
categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while
investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer
electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still
spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
