Interep announces
9th 'Power of Urban Radio' event for September in New York
(June 25, 2007) Interep will hold its 9th “Power of Urban Radio” Symposium
on Thursday, September 20th, at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. The
symposium showcases thought-leadership in the field of multicultural
marketing, particularly as it relates to Urban Radio and the African
America marketplace. The event is designed for advertising agencies and
marketers to explore both strategic and tactical approaches to engage the
African American community, with particular emphasis on Urban Radio
solutions.
Co-chairs of this year’s symposium include Wayne Brown, VP/GM, Radio One,
Atlanta; Rick Caffey, Sr. Vice President/Market Manager – Atlanta - CBS
Radio; Tony Kidd, Vice President /GM, WALR-FM,
Cox Radio.
Sherman Kizart (above), Senior Vice President, Urban Marketing, said "Each
year, the Power of Urban Radio strives to address the key issues faced by
Urban Radio broadcasters, particularly as it applies to getting our
appropriate share of ad dollars in proportion to the size and spending
power of the Urban audience.
”It is an educational event and a thought forum, where broadcasters,
marketers and agencies can candidly discuss both the strengths of Urban
Radio and the challenges that we must work together to overcome. This
year, with the continuing roll out of electronic measurement, shifts in
multicultural spending patterns, and the tremendous growth of digital ad
spending, we clearly have much to deliberate. I look forward to sharing
more specific agenda highlights shortly."
