Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of June 6 - 12
Early summer viewing on cable leans towards reality and comedy favorites

(June 16, 2011) Black viewers are adjusting the habits now that NBA basketball has ended. As they return to cable, they're gravitating to the usual favorites, like TBS' "House of Payne" and VH1's "Single Ladies." The Disney network's popularity always grows with the return of summer, and last week they lead all entries on the Top 25.

With 6.7 million watching seven of its shows, Disney was the most watched cable network in black homes during the second week of June. TBS was a close second with 6.1 million for five shows. Nickelodeon had 4.7 million for four programs.

Nielsen said that the total audience for the Top 25 cable shows in black households was up 13 percent to 26.6 million over the previous week.
