Black TV Ratings for Week of June 6 - 12
Black viewership of NBA Finals' deciding match-up slightly smaller than last year

(June 15, 2011) The dramatic finish to the 2011 NBA season between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat attracted 7.1 million black viewers. That's eight percent fewer than watched last year's deciding Game 7 between the L.A. Lakers and Boston Celtics. That's of no small consequence to the NBA, since black households were a record-setting 49 percent of the total of the viewing audience.

ABC was the most-watched TV network in black homes, thanks to the 31 million that watched NBA-related programming. ABC claimed 35.2 million for 11 of its shows on the Top 25. CBS followed with a distant second with  seven million for seven programs. NBC took third with five million for four shows.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows in black households, according to Nielsen, was up 23 percent over the previous week to 49.4 million.
