Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of May 25 - 31
NBA Semifinals games, programming set a record at 42% of Top 25 cable viewers


(June 8, 2015) As the march to the NBA Finals continued, the frenzy among fans pushed cable viewing of the games to record levels. The Top 25 cable favorites in black households included 12 programs that were basketball-related, as well as the week's No.1 and 2 winners. That comes to 12.2 million for basketball, or 42 percent of the Top 25 total viewership.

ESPN was the most-watched cable network in black homes, with 7.4 million viewers across four basketball-related shows. TNT was second with 4.8 million for three NBA offerings. OWN was third with 3.0 million for three shows.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 cable shows in black households, according to Nielsen, was down 17 percent during the last week of May to 29.1 million.
