Arsenio Hall's manager suggests the late night show may be revived yet again

(June 4, 2014) After announcing with fanfare in February that CBS Television Distribution had renewed "The Arsenio Hall" for a second season, and then reneging on those plans to say last week that the late night show was cancelled, the third time may be the charm for the show.

John Ferriter, Hall's manager, is telling The Wrap media news website that there have calls from interested networks about reviving the late night contender for a third run.

Hall debuted his return after a 19-year absence with the theme "Back Is Beautiful," and indeed his early ratings were promising. It started with a 1.9 rating among adults 18-9 and eventually settled with a 1.0 rating with the demo.

After the second season renewal was announced, however, some key stations moved the late night show to less desirable time slots and ratings fell as low in some markets to .03.

There are some plausible scenarios that could take advantage of the popularity that Hall has, particularly with African-American viewers. And while insiders are saying there's interest being expressed from various cable channels, BET is the one destination that has a track record with fixing shows and delivering on their potential. After the comedy "The Game" was dropped by the CW network in 2009, BET grabbed the rights and built a ratings success.

Some insiders are suggesting that the combination of a cable network parent and aggressive use of social media to overcome the lack of marketing the show suffered from, could help it see life for the third time. Stay tuned.
