Black TV Ratings for Week of May 25 - June 1
Black viewers abandon network TV during the Memorial Day holiday week

(June 5, 2014) With the weather across most of the nation cooperating, many black television viewers dropped the top four TV networks as a leisure option and went outdoors -- or to cable -- for Memorial Day week. None of the 25 most watched TV shows had at least one million black viewers. In the previous week 12 shows drew a million or more. Younger viewers clearly had more control, as the talent competition shows tool No.1 and No.2 on the chart.

CBS was the week's most watched TV network, with 8.1 million viewers across 11 shows on the chart. ABC followed with a distant four million for six shows. Fox took third place with just three million for four shows.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 TV shows in black households, according to Nielsen, was 18.04 million, a drop of 14 percent from the previous week.
