Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of May 21 - 27
Oklahoma City Thunder turning into NBA Playoffs' biggest drawing team

(May 30, 2012) When the Oklahoma City Thunder took on the Dallas Mavericks in last year's NBA western conference playoffs they were consistently attracting as many as 2.7 million black cable viewers. They are equaling that performance this year. They were last week's most watched cable program among African-Americans, with three million watching them take out the L.A. Lakers.

The eastern conference, on the other hand, is averaging only half of the four million that tuned in to watch the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat last year.

TNT still reigns as the most watched network in black homes, posting 13 million viewers for seven NBA games. ESPN's four playoff games drew 6.9 million and second place. BET was the third most watched network with 6.6 million for six shows.

Data from Nielsen shows that 35.3 million viewers watched the 25 most popular shows in black households, a decline of seven percent from the previous week.
