The Week
of May 14 - 20 'Charm
School' takes top spot, thanks to women; BET dunks on the NBA Playoffs (May
22, 2007) Apparently black women staged a revolt against basketball
domination of the remote control and pushed VH1’s “Charm School” into
first place. It’s just the second time this season it has hit the top spot
of most popular shows in black households. The NBA Playoffs were still
dominant on the list, taking seven of the top ten positions.
”College Hill” came in a number seven, leading BET’s surge of six
shows on the top 25, making it the week’s winning cable network. TNT
followed with five shows, and ESPN had three.
The total number of black households watching the top 25, according to
Nielsen, during the third week of May sweeps was 17.8 million. That’s
virtually the same as the previous week’s total.
