The Week of May 14 – 20
Fox holds on to first, second and third place; CBS is the week’s top network

(May 22, 2007) During the third week of May sweeps there was no change in the top three most popular shows in black households. “American Idol” took first and second and “House” was third. The combined audience for the three shows was up three percent over the previous week.

CBS was the week’s network winner with eight shows on the top 25. The net got a big boost from two shows marking the farewell of host Bob Barker of “The Price Is Right.” ABC claimed seven shows on the list. Fox and the CW tied for third with four shows each.  NBC posted two programs.

The total number of black households watching the top 25, according to Nielsen Media Research was 33.2 million. That’s a 5.5 percent gain over the previous week’s total.
