Black viewers drop 'American Idol' for 'CSI' as favorite primetime programming (May
16, 2006) The reign of “American Idol” as the No. 1 show on the top ten of
black households appears to be over. With African-American contestants out
of running for winner of the talent reality show, black viewers have moved
to CBS’ “CSI” as their favorite. The network took three of the top four
spots on the list during the second week of May sweeps.. “Without A Trace” enjoyed the coat tails of its lead-in on Thursday night, while CSI: Miami did well against its Monday night competition against UPN’s “Girlfriends” and “All of Us.” The total black audience for the top ten list was 18.8 million, a paltry two percent gain over the previous week’s total.
