The Week
of May 6 – 12
In second week of sweeps, Fox, CBS, ABC shows get a boost from black
households
(May
15, 2007) In the second week of May sweeps (the monthly ratings that
networks use for setting advertising rates) black households gave a boost
to the usual top-rated shows. Fox’s “American Idol” finished in first and
second, with “House” in third. The trio led Fox’s seven entries on the top
25 most popular shows in black households for the week.
Fox shared the title of winning network for the week with CBS, which also
claimed seven in the top 25. ABC followed with six. CW had four, including
one of the best ratings for “Girlfriends” this season. NBC had one
chartmaker.
The total number of households watching the top 25, according to Nielsen
data, was 31.5 million. That’s 1.3 percent drop in total audience from the
previous week – and that can’t be good news for sweeps-watchers.
