Women With Purpose Global Summit attracting multicultural media professionals
(April 28, 2013) Media professionals will play a major role in the "Women With Purpose Global Summit…Mind, Body & Soul" when hundreds of accomplished, culturally diverse women from around the world convene in St. Martin/St. Maarten June 18-22, 2013. The invitation-only gathering will offer seminars and workshops in unconventional settings as well as opportunities for women to take care of business, relax and renew.
Among the media executives participating in the Women's Summit are CNN's Soledad O'Brien, author and CNBC financial expert Carmen Wong Ulrich, Oprah Winfrey Network's Iyanla Vanzant, an author and life coach, and Maritza Guimet, vice president of international business development and production for Olympusat Media. Guimet also is CEO of Goddess Mujer Woman, a global platform for creating television programming for women.
Other keynote speakers include attorney and crisis manager Judy Smith, also an author, who is inspiration for the hit television show "Scandal;" Brazilian entrepreneur Inocencia Manoel, and author and entrepreneur Sahar Hashemi of Great Britain.
A highlight of the Summit will be the Media Roundtable Discussion -- "As Women in Media, How Do We Negatively or Positively Impact Our Image Worldwide?" -- coordinated by NABJ Hall of Fame Inductee and former magazine editor Lynn Norment and CNN Digital senior editor Mira Lowe. Maritza Guimet will be a discussion leader for the Media Roundtable.
Also participating will be women leaders in the areas of diversity, philanthropy, fashion/beauty, personal branding, education, entrepreneurship, media, health/wellness, and tourism who will lead discussions on these topics.
One of the things that distinguishes this gathering from others is what happens prior to the actual summit, says the event's creator and producer, Valerie Norman-Gammon, who produced the Essence Awards broadcast and the Essence Music Festival. Based on attendees' specific interests, pre-summit introductions will be arranged for potential business collaborations.
"This summit is designed to be distinctive and results-oriented," says Norman-Gammon, an award-winning media executive who has a stellar track record creating and producing successful entertainment and travel events. "For five days, 300 accomplished and exciting women will experience cutting-edge talks, personal enlightenment and enhancement, as well as necessary tools and techniques for the 21st Century while networking with some of the brightest and most accomplished women in the world. All this in the luxurious surroundings of St. Martin, St. Maarten, Anguilla and St. Barths. It's an awesome combination!"
