Black TV Ratings for Week of April 16 - 22
ABC
overtakes CBS as most watched TV network in Black households
(April
24, 2012) ABC reaped the rewards of its growing popularity with Black TV
viewers by overtaking perennial favorite, CBS, during the third week of
April. Not only did the usually second-place network capture the top
three spots on the Top 25, but for the first time it placed 11 shows on
the chart (compared to CBS' nine). Newcomer "Scandal," coupled with the
movie special, "Firelight" starring Cuba Gooding, pushed ABC to a
victory.
ABC added four shows to its total on the chart the previous week. It
notched 13.1 million viewers for eleven of its shows. CBS had 8.9
million viewers across nine of its programs. NBC was a distant third
with 2.7 million watching three of its shows.
The total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows in black households,
according to Nielsen, was 27.6 million, virtually equal to the total for
the previous week.
