of April 2 - 8 ‘Flavor’ - ‘New
York’ franchise lets VH1 take top spot and week’s top network (April
12, 2007) The reality shows “Flavor of Love” and its spin-off “I Love New
York” made VH1 the most popular cable network in black households during
the first week of April. “New York” took the number spot and “Charm
School,” the network’s newest reality offering benefited from its lead-in
to capture second place.
VH1’s 10 programs was a record number of entries on the top 25. Right
behind was BET with its seven contenders on the chart, including “Spring
Bling.” Nickelodeon claimed four spots and USA had two.
The total number of black households watching the top 25, according to
Nielsen Media Research, was 18 million. That’s represents a whopping 28
percent increase over the previous week’s total.
