TV Ratings for Week of April 2 - 8
Premiere of 'Scandal' starring Kerry Washington gives ABC record-setting
debut
(April
10, 2012) The heavily promoted debut of the political drama, "Scandal,"
gave ABC a major boost in black viewers and made the newcomer one of the
network's most successful debuts in years. Nearly two million black
viewers tuned in, bringing ABC even with perennial favorite CBS for the
most watched network of the first week of April.
CBS had an overall black audience of 13.2 million for its 11 Top 25
shows, as did ABC, which had ten shows on the chart. Fox was the very
distant third with 2.7 million for two shows.
The total number of viewers watching the Top 25 shows in black
households, according to Nielsen data, was the same as the previous week
at 31.3 million.
