ESSENCE unveils refreshed design and features for its magazine and website

(April 3, 2014) ESSENCE has unveiled a new look, with a refreshed design for the magazine, as well as the Essence.com homepage. The design refresh is the first for the magazine in 5 years -- incorporating bolder fonts and images, and a new layout of the monthly sections.

The revamped Essence.com home page will feature larger images and more content up top -- as well as the premiere of the brand's new Life channel covering health and wellness, money and careers, news and viewpoints.   Users will also notice more prominent integration of ESSENCE social platforms, including the Essence Instagram and daily @Essence_Debates Twitter feeds.

"Essence.com and ESSENCE magazine are unveiling two new and exciting makeovers in celebration of the brand's 44th anniversary May issue," said ESSENCE Editor-in-Chief, Vanessa K. Bush. "Our intent with both refresh moves was to make the brand more vibrant, interactive and accessible, no matter which platform our audience prefers."

The new in-book highlights debut with the May issue (on newsstands April 4), which features a three-way split cover celebrating three breathtaking beauties who are influencing music, style and pop culture -- Ledisi, Solange and Erykah Badu.
