Equals Three Communications gets American Assoc. for Geriatric Psychiatry

(March 23, 2006) Equals Three Communications, Inc., has expanded its mental health communication work by adding two accounts to its healthcare portfolio. These new projects include:

Leading public and media relations outreach for the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP), a national association dedicated to promoting the mental health and well being of older people and improving the care of those with late-life mental disorders.
Developing a social marketing campaign for the Geriatric Mental Health Foundation (GMHF) designed to educate select audiences about mental health issues facing the aging, and how these issues affect family members and others.

“These accounts enhance the current mental health care work that the agency is performing on behalf of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH),” said Kris Musumeci, Equals Three’s Chief Operating Officer.  “Equals Three began cultivating a mental health care niche in 2001 when NIMH first became a client, and we provided communications support to help the Institute launch its Real Men Real Depression campaign to raise awareness of depression in adult men and encourage them to seek treatment.”

Adds Ms. Musumeci, “Today, the agency’s strong tradition of healthcare communications and client service, coupled with our in-depth knowledge of mental health issues, has made us an ideal partner for organizations like AAGP and GMHF.”

Based in Bethesda, Maryland, Equals Three® is a strategic communications agency with a 23-year history in developing successful public relations and marketing communications campaigns for government agencies, nonprofits, and private industry clients. As a full-service agency, Equals Three offers research and strategic planning, creative services, advertising and marketing, public relations, and health and science writing. A minority owned and led company, Equals Three also specializes in multicultural outreach. For more information visit www.equals3.com.

Latest 'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life

As the American economy continues to move sluggishly, African-American households are curtailing their spending in many categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
