AOL Black Voices appoints names Alvin Bowles as publisher

(March 20, 2006) AOL today named Alvin Bowles, Publisher of AOL Black Voices.  In this role, Bowles will lead the sales and sales development efforts for AOL Black Voices, the premier online destination for those interested in black culture and the black experience.  Bowles will report into Michael Barrett, Executive Vice President, Sales and Partnerships, AOL Media Networks.

Most recently, Bowles served as Vice President of Divisional Partnerships in the Global Marketing Group within Time Warner.  In this role, he was responsible for managing relationships within Time Warner properties including Warner Bros., Turner Broadcasting, HBO, AOL, and various publishing titles in order to develop customized cross-platform solutions and integrated marketing programs.

“We are thrilled to have Alvin join the AOL Media Networks team,” said Barrett.  “We feel confident that through his tremendous experience, Alvin will prove invaluable as AOL Media Networks works toward tapping the full potential of the African-American market.”

Prior to working at Time Warner, Bowles managed strategic partnerships and business development for Sony Music Entertainment and BMG Entertainment.

Bretland Moore, formerly the Publisher for AOL Black Voices, will join the AOL Media Networks National Sales Team as a Sales Director in the Atlanta Region. He was named Publisher last June when AOL Black Voice was still owned by the Tribune Co. Previously, he co-founded the successful publishing and sports marketing company Sports View Publications, Inc., and held various sales and marketing positions during a 14-year career with ExxonMobil.
