Ogilvy names
Donna Pedro to new Chief Diversity Officer position
(March
8, 2007) Ogilvy New York announced that it has hired Donna Pedro as its
Chief Diversity Officer, a new position at the agency, effective
immediately.
Ms. Pedro will be responsible for overseeing the agency's growing
diversity and inclusion initiatives. She is joining Ogilvy from The
FutureWork Institute, a global diversity consulting firm where she worked
as a Senior Consultant for four years.
Ms. Pedro played a key role in facilitating Ogilvy's employee diversity
training program throughout North America. This program was launched over
two years ago and over 1500 employees have participated to date. More
recently, she served as Executive on Loan at Ogilvy, working with the
company on its diversity and inclusion strategy.
"After a lengthy search process, we all realized that what we wanted and
needed in a Chief Diversity Officer was right here," said Bill Gray,
Co-CEO of Ogilvy North America. "We have come to count on Donna for her
guidance and expertise and know she will make a great addition to building
a more diverse and inclusive agency."
Ms. Pedro has over 25 years of Corporate Human Resources experience, with
specific expertise in Diversity, Training, Development and Staffing. Prior
to joining The FutureWork Institute in 2002, Ms. Pedro spent 13 years as
Vice President, Diversity and Professional Development at Sony Music
Entertainment, Inc.
"I have come to truly appreciate Ogilvy's culture and its people and
believe that I can play a crucial role in assisting the agency in becoming
the employer of choice for all groups in advertising and marketing," said
Ms. Pedro. She will report to Ogilvy New York's joint management team of
Andy Berndt, Michelle Bottomley and Harvey Kipnis.
Her hire follows the agency's creation of a Diversity Supplier program
that Ogilvy launched in December and the establishment of an External
Diversity Advisory Board.
Ogilvy North America is the largest unit of The Ogilvy Group agency
network, a subsidiary of WPP (Nasdaq: WPPGY). It has offices in New York,
Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit, Durham, Minneapolis, Denver
and throughout Canada.
