Black TV Ratings for Week of Feb. 20 - 26
Oscars unable to draw significant black audience despite nominees for 'The Help'

(March 1, 2012) This year's Academy Awards had just average appeal for black TV viewers, despite the nominations for actresses Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer in "The Help." Just under three million tuned in, compared with the four million-plus that watched in 2010, the year "Precious" took home honors.

CBS, as usual, dominated the chart, with 15.3 million black viewers for 13 of its shows. ABC followed as the second most watched network claiming 11.1 million viewers for eight shows. Fox was a distant third at three million over two programs.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows in black households for the last week of February was virtually unchanged at 32.2 million.
