Turner slam dunks a triple crown victory with NBA All-Star weekend

(February 25, 2006) Turner Network Television lived out its hoop dreams with its airing of the NBA All-Star Weekend from Houston. The network took the first, second and third place spots of the 25 most-watched cable programs in black households for the second week in February. The All-Star game itself delivered well over a half million homes and a 21.6 rating, while the entire weekend pulled in 855,000 black households, or 64% of all households watching the top 25.

The overall winner for the week was Disney, which claimed six shows on the list. Turner and Lifetime notched four among the 25, while BET’s Movie of the Week delivered three positions. The overall number of black households watching the top 25 was 1.32 million – the same as for the previous week.
