Black TV Ratings for Week of February 16 - 22
Fox's 'Empire' passes the eight million mark; 'Oscars' lift ABC to week's top network

(February 25, 2015) Fox's "Empire" continued its unprecedented ascent, reaching 8.7 million black viewers and more than 13 million overall. That makes six consecutive weeks of growth for the Wednesday night hip-hop drama. The week's other big broadcasts events, ABC's "Oscars" and CBS' "Stevie Wonder Grammy Salute," rounded out the top five of the week's most popular shows, along with regulars, "Scandal" and "Murder."

The week's TV specials shifted viewing enough to give ABC a rare most-watched TV network title. It had 20 million viewers for ten of its shows on the Top 25. Fox jumped to second place, claiming 13.6 million for just four of its shows. CBS settled for third with 21.2 million for nine of its programs.

According to Nielsen, the total number of viewers for the Top 25 most popular TV shows in black households was up 17 percent from the previous week to 47.8 million.
