appoints Ella Britton Vice President, Group Account Director
(February
15, 2006) The Oakland-based Carol H. Williams ad agency has appointed Ella
Britton Vice President, Group Account Director for its Chicago office. She
will oversee the agency’s work targeting the African-American consumer
market for Procter & Gamble and Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
Ella comes to CHWA from Burrell where she was a Vice President and Account
Management Director working principally on advertising, event and
promotion programs for Toyota Motor Sales, USA.
Ella has 14 years of advertising account management experience. She began
her career at J. Walter Thompson on the Kraft and Oscar Mayer accounts.
Ensuing general market experience included stints on Motorola, Coca Cola
and M&M Mars. Her transition to the AACM side of advertising occurred when
she joined E. Morris Communications as the Account Supervisor on the
national AACM Oldsmobile account.
In addition to being a multi-dimensional advertising professional, Ella is
also a classically trained soprano who has performed as a voiceover talent
and jingle singer for brands such as Disney, McDonald’s and Anheuser
Busch. Her industry recognition includes three Effies and the GM Alpha
Award.
She holds a B.B.A in Marketing from Loyola University and a M.S. in
Advertising from the University of Illinois. Her affiliations include
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the National Association for Female
Executives, AFTRA/SAG and the Christ Universal Temple Girls Mentoring
Program.
A native of the Windy City, Ella lives in Chicago with her husband, Paul
Gibson, and their three pugs, Tasha, Frank and Billie.

'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life
As the American economy continues to move sluggishly,
African-American households are curtailing their spending in many
categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while
investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer
electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still
spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
