Burrell Communications launches a social initiative, 'Black Is Human,' with video series
(February 12, 2015) Burrell Communications Group has launched its newest social initiative, Black is Human. This effort provides a glimpse of the African American experience through stories often unheard. Black is Human takes an honest look at our community, celebrates its spirit and illuminates a truer picture. The first of a series of videos from Black is Human is titled "Our Black Boys".
"Whether it's street violence or harassment at the hands of authorities, the one thing headlines have in common is that we are losing black boys," says the statement on the website. "Even more unfortunate, we are losing them at an alarming rate. This is an outrage for some, and a small blip on the emotional radar for others. As we explore reality from the perspective of our black boys, we hope to help America understand that this is not a black problem, but everybody's problem."
"As an industry leader in understanding and engaging the African American consumer, it is our social responsibility to embrace and share stories of our community," Burrell states on the site. "The perspective expressed in Black is Human is that of Burrell Communications Group. We ask that you share "Our Black Boys" videos and spread the word about this initiative. We look forward to a conversation and any feedback you may have."
