Arbitron's Julian Davis, Director of Urban Radio, announces his retirement
(February 10, 2012) Arbitron's Julian Davis is retiring, after twenty-two years in various roles including Director of Urban Radio and Director of Urban Media Services.

Prior to joining Arbitron, Davis spent seventeen years both on the air and behind the scenes in the radio industry, during which time he co-owned KYEA-FM in Monroe, LA. He joined the ratings giant in Dallas in 1989 as a Junior Account Executive, working with clients in the Southwest region, before being promoted to the role of Senior Account Executive of Radio Station Sales. Then in 1998 he moved to Atlanta to take up the post of Director of Urban Radio, during which time he was responsible for creating Arbitron's ‘Black Consumer Study'.

In 2005, he was promoted to the new position of Director of Urban Media Services, responsible for liaising with Black/African American-owned radio stations and networks to develop a consumer benchmarking satisfaction survey of stations targeted at black consumers.

Davis is a co-founding member of the National Black Programmers Coalition (NBPC), and previously served as its National Scholarship Chair.

Clara Carneiro, Arbitron's VP/Multicultural Marketing, comments: "I have appreciated the opportunity to serve as Julian's manager for the past four years, and on behalf of the company I wish to thank him for the many years of dedicated service to Arbitron and our customers."
