Former
AURN president creates The Jay Williams Group consultancy
(February 1, 2007) E. J. “Jay” Williams, Jr. announces his new consultancy
practice, The Jay Williams Group, based in New York. Williams stepped down
from the presidency of American Urban Radio Networks (AURN) after over 7
years at the helm. He is a renowned member of the media community for
over 25 years. Williams is one of urban radio’s best- known leaders, and
among its most innovative and influential marketers.
Williams says he will be providing “Urban 2.0 Technology” to help
businesses rethink the paradigm of the “one-size-fits-all” approach to
urban marketing. "In today's business climate, with rapid-fire strategic
alliances and quickly formed collaborations, customers require not just
innovation, but custom-tailored, real-time innovation that shifts with --
or just ahead of -- the marketplace.” “Clients are seeking innovative
pathways to connect with Urban America,” states Williams. He adds, “The
Urban dynamic moves faster and faster, but brands cannot forego strategy
no matter how fast they need to move.”
His tenure at AURN saw the restructuring of the networks’ sales
organization, a vastly improved programming line-up, the creation of three
additional RADAR networks, and the development of a huge increase in
promotional capabilities.
Prior to his Presidency of AURN, Williams had a private consulting
practice in which he assisted companies in their plans for expansion,
developed and implemented strategic plans for a governmental broadcasting
system, and set up new companies. Former client, Cathy Gould, North
American CEO of Elite Models said, “Jay is particularly adept at
developing and executing extensive marketing plans for companies,
improving their performance, providing advice to boards, CEOs, and COOs.
Named one of the Top 30 Blacks in Radio by Radio Ink magazine for the past
six years, Williams is now a member of the Certified Consultants Network.
He can be contacted at his new office, The Jay Williams Group, 501 Fifth
Avenue - 15th Floor, New York, NY 10017.

'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life
As the American economy continues to move sluggishly,
African-American households are curtailing their spending in many
categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while
investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer
electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still
spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
