The
Week of January 15 - 21
CBS dominates
the top 25 primetime thanks to football’s AFC Championship
(January
24, 2007) There’s no stopping the juggernaut that is NFL football,
especially on the weekend that decides the match-up for Super Bowl XLI.
CBS’ broadcast of the battle between the New England Patriots and the
Indianapolis Colts drew the largest audience of black TV households for
the season with more than four million. The pre- and post-game shows also
posted among the top five.
Thanks to the lingering interests of game viewers, CBS was able to place a
total of 12 winners on the chart, the largest of any network this season.
ABC followed with six programs, Fox counted five, and NBC had notched two,
including the Golden Globes awards.
The total number of black households watching the top 25 during the third
week of January was 42.4 million, a whopping 24 percent increase over the
previous week.

'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life
As the American economy continues to move sluggishly,
African-American households are curtailing their spending in many
categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while
investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer
electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still
spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
