'Our World with Black Enterprise'  nominated for NAACP Image Award

(January 11, 2008) Our World with Black Enterprise has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award in the Best Television Talk Series category.  Emmy Award-wining journalist Ed Gordon hosts the broadcast, which features news, entertainment, roundtable discussions, and everyday heroes from all walks of life-from Hollywood to the corporate suite and everyone in between.

"On behalf of the entire production team of Our World with Black Enterprise, I'd like to express my sincere thanks to the NAACP for this incredible honor," said Senior Producer Genevieve Michel-Bryan.  "Over the past two years, we have  worked diligently to ensure that every guest, profile, and roundtable discussion sheds fresh light on our culture, our people, and our distinctive life perspectives."

Over the past two seasons, Our World with Black Enterprise has deeply connected with African American viewers across the country. The remarkable guest roster has included exclusive interviews with Barack Obama, Denzel Washington, Russell Simmons, Spike Lee, Jamie Fox, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Beyonce Knowles, and Don Cheadle. Gordon and special guest experts have tackled hard-hitting issues such as depression and mental illness, the rise of black Republicans, and the challenges faced by black women balancing professional and personal lives.

On January 19, Our World with Black Enterprise kicks off a series of brand new episodes with a two-part interview with Bill Cosby and Dr. Alvin Pouissant, the authors of Come on People: From Victims to Victors.

"We are  extremely honored that the NAACP has recognized Our World with Black Enterprise for its influential, high-impact contributions to our community," says be President & CEO Earl "Butch" Graves Jr.  "For close to four decades, black enterprise magazine has been a trusted resource for and about African Americans. We have  worked tirelessly to expand that legacy into our broadcast division, and we are  proud that Our World with Black Enterprise continues this tradition of excellence."

Along with Our World with Black Enterprise, the other nominees for Best Television Talk Series include Judge Mathis, Real Time with Bill Maher, Tavis Smiley "Crisis in Darfur," and The Tyra Banks Show.

Our World with Black Enterprise is produced in partnership with Chicago-based Central City Productions, a leader in minority-targeted television with nearly 40 years of successful and innovative television production and marketing experience.  The series airs nationwide Sundays on cable network TV One. More information concerning local stations and airtimes is available at http://ourworld.blackenterprise.com/.

For more than three decades, Central City Productions (CCP) has specialized in the production, syndication, distribution, and sale of ad space of black entertainment television programs such as The Stellar Gospel Music Awards, the Black Enterprise Business Report, Know Your Heritage high school quiz show, and the Bud Billiken Parade.
