Cable TV Ratings for Week of Dec. 30 - Jan. 6
'I Love New York' is No.1 for first week of new year; Three-way tie for top net

(January 9, 2008) VH1 started the new year off with "I Love New York" in first place on the top 25 list of most popular cable shows in black households. TBS' "House of Payne," however, showed it dominance by capturing second, third, fourth and fifth.

Cable networks had to share the audience, as the usual viewing habits were skewed by the holidays. BET, TBS and USA each had four shows on the chart. TNT and VH1 both claimed three. Disney, Nickelodeon and ESPN posted two shows, and MTV had one.

The total number of black viewers of the top 25 shows during the first week of the new year was 26.2 million, according to Nielsen Media Research.
